COMPOSITION
Pink Sapphires belong to the family of Corundums with traces of chromium that lend it this color. The higher the chromium content the more intense the color; although too much coloration can turn it to red in which turns it to Ruby. Sometimes the red and pink can be caught in a place where it can get difficult to identify it as Ruby or Pink Sapphire. Violet tones result from traces of vanadium.
